Inspired in equal parts by Light and Space artists like James Turrell and Dan Flavin as well as fringe psychological theories, The Metaphysical Photo Booth combines chromotherapy and a sensual visual approach to induce prosocial behaviors in participants and allow them to document themselves in a relaxed, happy moment.
The installation is an exploration of the aesthetics of light and Polyvagal Theory, an emerging field of study that explores social engagement responses and how they relate to the sympathetic and parasympathetic parts of the nervous system. It suggests that we receive cues from our environment and can use these to train our observing selves to become more attenuated in a positive way to our surroundings.
Come for a light bath in our beautiful environment and take a photo strip home with you.
The Metaphysical Photo Booth will take over the second floor mezzanine of the Jupiter NEXT hotel on the evening of Wednesday, April 10th between 6-9 p.m.
