By 2050 there will be around 12 billion tonnes of plastic litter in landfills and the environment. Plastic, once discarded, has been determined to last for 500 years to forever. Scientists aren't sure. Municipalities are grappling with where to ship and how to handle, their waste. People are disheartened globally but hard-pressed to change behaviors. Corporations want to do better, but the motivation and roadmap is unclear. Can Portland help? Once positioned as a model-green city, Portland may have the opportunity to rise up and lead cities worldwide in innovative approaches to low-waste design. Let's workshop it.
MADO and SuperDeep Studio will host a workshop for sustainability futurists where we will share our perspective on the future of low-waste design and collectively create the beginnings of a local action plan. We will lead you on a shortened version of our strategic human-centered process and you will leave with a new tool for inspiring radical innovation within your organization. This is an opportunity for cross-industry pollination and collaboration and we invite participants to connect with us beforehand so we can build their organizational insight into the program.
