The 5 Senses of Juniper

This event will give the design community a chance to experience Western Juniper using the 5 senses of SIGHT, TOUCH, SMELL, SOUND and TASTE. Attendees will be engaged in an interactive setting flowing from beautifully finished Juniper wood products and live edge slabs, to intimate conversations with Juniper sawyers and lumber experts, woodworking by local artisans, and tasty Juniper wood-fired barbecue and juniper infused cocktails. Sustainable Northwest Wood will present a myriad of design possibilities and applications of this local wood.

Western Juniper is a native shrub that has become invasive and is consistently cited among the top challenges and threats to rangeland health and watersheds in eastern and central Oregon. To combat these issues, our nonprofit parent company, Sustainable Northwest, helped develop a Western Juniper wood products industry that provides new economic opportunities in the Oregon forest products sector, creates well-paying jobs in distressed rural communities, decreases wildfire risks, and restores habitat in rural Oregon.

Sustainable Northwest Wood is the retail center point for bridging rural Juniper supply to urban projects, providing distribution, education and inspiration to the end user.
