She Built This City: The Women of PDX Design & Architecture

In 1971 Eleanor Chown, the matriarch of Chown Hardware, started her husband and sons down a foreign road to becoming one of Portland's first premium home decor and design showrooms. Nearly 50 years later, Eleanor's labor of love accounts for more than half of the business, solidifying her place in Portland business.

Gratefully, many visionaries in the Portland interior and architectural design community have followed in similar footsteps to pioneer successful women lead design firms.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon during Design Week PDX as we welcome a panel of these influential women in design to share their wisdom, strength, and experiences from three decades of Portland design.

Immediately following our forum guests are welcome to stay for light hors d'oeuvre, wine, and beer from until 5pm.
