While the industry standard for drawing in interior design is CAD drafting (Computer Aided Design) it can present barriers of cost and a learning curve. I want to show you the beauty and usefulness using simple tools to create a hand drafted floor plan, furniture plan and elevation to communicate the design of a room or a piece of custom furniture. It may be useful to draw up a room to see if your furniture will fit into a home you are thinking of moving to. Or, if you want to provide interior design services, having 2D scaled drawings and a basic understanding of hand drafting will come in handy to communicate your design ideas to others.
Learn how to draw a detailed floor plan including walls, windows, doors, and furniture layout--Learn simple space planning principles for a residential living room layout. Learn some basic conventions and techniques of hand-drafting and architectural hand lettering. Using some very basic tools like a portable drafting table, a scale, a triangle and a pencil, you will come away from this workshop prepared to draw up a room.
For aspiring interior designers, industrial designers, or for the DIY'er working on their own home, this workshop will be fun and easy, and there will be a hand-out to take with you for reference.
