For the first time in history, organizations have the power to communicate with audiences anywhere on earth. While organizations have become increasingly savvy when it comes to understanding their audience, they might unintentionally exclude potential users through audience-focused design decisions. By creating a foundation of encouraging diversity and inclusion by implementing accessible methodologies, we can reach larger audiences and pave the way creating a more inclusive and equitable digital environment.
In the United States alone, nearly 20% of the population operates with a temporary or permanent disability. This session will include a hands on experience to create a more thorough understanding of why accessibility matters followed by a presentation that will give a 360 view of what goes into designing an accessible site. Details include: guidelines for metrics, tools and tips, legal implications and process notes. Audiences will walk away with a new perspective on why their design decisions matter along with tools on how to implement changes to their process.
