“Subverting the Imagined Moment” new work by furniture artist Chuck Moffit

Art At The CAVE Gallery is an innovative art space in downtown Vancouver Wa. We bring cutting edge, alternative, and challenging work to our space in addition to traditional fine art disciplines. We have a black box dedicated to multimedia, video, film and installation, and we have space enough for performance, movement and dance. The CAVE space was meant to be a breath of creative fresh air and a labor of love.

The work being presented at Art At The CAVE Gallery for the Design Week OPEN HOUSE, and for the entire month of April is the premier of a new body of work by Mt. Baldy, California-based sculptor and furniture maker Chuck Moffit. This is a site-specific exhibition of contemporary work straddling conventional definitions of fine and decorative art, inspired in equal parts by the rugged tactility of artist Richard Serra and the transgressive purposefulness of fashion designer Hussein Chalayan. Moffit’s designs challenge conventional assumptions of gender, history, and materials.

“Subverting the Imagined Moment” will premier at the North/Northeast Open House on April 10, 2019 at 4pm, followed by a talk, and question/answer with the artist.
